sound off about bush

honestly i did not watch it, i was busy working my second job to pay for daycare for my son and health insurance. no shit. anyway, president bush held a press conference last night to alleviate the american public's whoa's about the state of the war in iraq. in other words, "my ratings are plummeting, i better do something about it, yee-haw, c'mon jesus let's hold a press conference." it irks me every time he brings up 9-11 during this though. it is as if he wants to stoke the fire of patriotism whenever he feels that the american people are waking up to his lies. don't worry W, you still have many supporters who turn a blind eye to your ineptitude.

this is just my opinion, of course, what's yours?

oprah, teachers, and why i'm cranky

today i am very busy at work and a bit cranky. i am on my lunch and have taken this time to vent. allow me to elaborate:

i read the paper this morning and there are two fine examples of how good people are shit on and idiots get rewarded. read on >

the 1st one was an article how the teacher's union is bitching that in the last 3-4 years teachers salaries have not kept up with inflation and this is an atrocity because of the important work they do and how hard it is to find good teachers and that most are forgoing teaching for other more lucrative careers. well boo friggin hoo. welcome to the lower middle class or as we like to call ourselves, upper class poor people. that's america people where insurance premiums go up way more than the average 3% raise. add that to the cost of gas and utilities and every other thing and guess what? thought i make more salary than i did 3 yrs ago, i take home less and what i take home doesn't go nearly as far (my friggin property taxes went up 75%! 75%!!!) that's more than the raise i got this year, and now i have a kid and a wife who doesn't work in the summer. this is a serious matter in our country and no one cares.

the 2nd i read on the same page as the 1st (keep in mind this is page 3 of the paper.)
anyway oprah fat-ass winfrey was recently outraged and embarrassed when she went shopping at this store that had been closed to the general public for a private event. the article said when she showed up at the shop with her entourage they were denied entry though she should clearly see others in the shop shopping she didn't understand why she couldn't. she was quoted as saying the experience was humiliating. later the shop owner or whatever issued a public apology and ass kissing and i'm like "yeah and if that were me and not queen O, not only would no one give a shit, i don't even think i would care that much. the gall of rich celebrities! now she is going to devote a whole show to this? the umitigated gall of this woman! get over yourself already. and the fact that her audience will oooo and ahhh about this makes me sick.

Goss makes me vomit

i just read a brief of the interview with Goss, director of the CIA. he says he has an excellent idea where osama bin laden is hiding out but our respect for sovreign nations hinders our ability to get him. is this guy fuckin serious? i hate break it down for you mr. Goss, but we invaded Iraq, et al., who had done nothing (proven) to us, AND we didn't respect the opinions of our allies in the UN, AND we labeled anyone with a contrary opinion to ours as "traitor." now suddenly, mr. Goss, you expect us to swallow the fact that that the CIA can't get bin laden because we now "respect" the sovreignty of nations? and we are supposed to believe this? come on now. it gets difficult to be an american with such assholes in office who think the american people are this stupid and naive. i am irritated and troubled by this. how about you? let's hear it, and have a point not just hilarious name calling. well ok, you can call names, but have a point as well. thanks.

streetlight manifesto news

hey, i went to see streetlight manifesto saturday at what was called "shredfest" at the stone pony in asbury park, NJ. they were massive as usual. i have seen them three times in the past year and each time they get more and more relaxed and play more jam-type stuff, which they can pull off because they are all really talented musicians. anyway, during a bit right before "here's to life," tomas tells the crowd that they have new streetlight music coming soon, but also look for new music from bandits of the acoustic revolution. that is really awesome considering he hasn't touched that band in four years. i am psyched; great show and great new music on the way.

Jacko's future?

so by now you have heard that he was innocent on all counts. i knew he would be. i don't want to speculate here if he is innocent or guilty, i don't know enough about it to make that decision...and you probably have read enough about it on nearly every blog.

so what will he do now? my prediction (glad you asked) is he needs to go underground. fans clearly do not care whether or not he touches kids, but the american media will hound him forever unless he discreetly disappears, ala OJ. his best bet is to sell everything and move to france.

what do you think about him, and why? what should he do now?

say No to Spam, don't undervalue your stats!

sorry i haven't posted in a while. something that has iritated me today is email spam. sure, that's nothing new, but one in particular. have you seen these emails and e-ads for classmates.com, or classreunion.com? sure its cool if you want to keep in touch with friends you went to school with, but me personally i keep in contact with the friends from school that i like, if i didn't like them i don't talk with them any longer and have no desire to talk to them.

anyway, the other thing i don't understand about these sites is that they want you to fill out your up-to-date profile for free, then they charge others to view it? they also charge you if you want to see others people info? ok, it's cool, they put up the expense for the website, etc., whatever, but the least they could do is give you a couple of bucks for giving them the info they NEED to maintain their site. so i go on and register for free (gee thanks for not charging me) and fill out bogus info. F them, why should they make money off my real info?

so i am now encouoraging my readers (all 6 of them) to do the same.

greatest movie of all time?

So as you may know, but you probably don’t, I have been way busy at work. So in lieu of commentary, I will ask my audience (for a moment humor me and pretend that I have an audience) for content. I would like to compile a list of the top movies. So, I ask you this: what is your favorite movie of all time, you have to limit your picks to just one, and tell me why it is the best. I will compile the list next week and give my opinions. Thanks, talk to you next week.

bus driver deep throat's streetlight manifesto?

So, there you are. How’ve you been? I haven’t seen you since last week; sorry I have been busy over the long weekend and at work recently. Not difficult work, just tedious crap.

So what’s happened since we last spoke? Ah, let’s begin with the bus driver fighting those middle school kids in Florida. The particulars of the situation as I understand them are as follows: the bus driver told one kid to put his seatbelt on, his step brother then cursed the bus driver for “picking on his brother.” The bus driver lost his cool and slapped the kid and grabbed him by the throat. The latest is the boy’s won’t face any charges, and the driver faces battery charges. Now kids can be assholes, granted, and sure they can press your buttons to the limit, but a person that must be in contact with them cannot, under ANY circumstances, lose his/her cool and behave like this. In my opinion, the guy should lose his job and maybe have some probation. The battery charges should be dropped. Sure it’s not my kid, and if it was who knows how I would feel, but I can tell you this, my kid would not have the foul mouth that these kids displayed. We can’t lose sight of the fact that these kids should have sat down and put their frigging seatbelts on, that’s the bottom line, had they done this nothing would have happened. This doesn’t excuse the behavior of the bus driver by any means.

My boys Streetlight Manifesto are playing the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ, on June 18th. I am heading to the show and am very excited about it. I was turned onto them, well actually Catch 22, from a friend of a friend of a friend, whose brother is actually in Catch 22. I saw them (C22) in concert first at the old Birch Hill Inn (now closed down, RIP) in Sayreville NJ and just naturally gravitated to Streetlight Manifesto. Both are excellent bands in concert and deserve my recommendation. If you get the chance to see either, you totally should.

Next, from the ‘who cares?’ bin > the “deep throat” informant finally revealed his identity and apparently it is some 90 year old man and NOT porn star Linda Lovelace as previously suspected. Wow, I can finally sleep at night knowing the identity of the guy who revealed the “scandalous” tapping of phones at Democratic HQ in Washington. Phew, that’s a load off my mind…. thirty-three years ago.

Did you see the picture of him on Yahoo? Tell me he doesn’t have the look of “Ooops, I just crapped my pants,” on his face.

The Associated reports that Iraqi security officers are concerned the US may leave Iraq too soon. Relax guys, Bush and Cheney made a statement earlier this week that they foresee the US withdrawal by 2009, at a final cost in the trillions! Nice, do I smell the campaign slogan for the Republicans in 2008 of “don’t vote us out of office yet, we are the only ones who know how to “win” this war.” Sounds silly, huh? Don’t laugh, more or less this slogan and little else worked in 2004.
