can you go home again?
here is an article about some contraversy from my old neighborhood.
http://www.nj.com/search/index.ssf?/base/news-1/1132137292148260.xml?expresstimes?nnj&coll=2
it appears that a man was convicted of gang rape of a 17 year old girl and forcing a 16 year old girl to perform oral on him. he was 20 at the time. in addition to the sexual misconduct and rape charges, he was convicted and is now a registed sex offender.
so the problem is that he now got hired by the township by the public works department. at this job he will work at and near a school. it appears that his dad was employed by the township for 33 years and is a friend of the mayor.
i should also mention that the township has enacted legislation to limit where sex offenders can live. so for a town to take such a hard line on sex offenders, and then allow this to happen seems highly hypocritical.
in my opinion, the rape and history of violence towards woman is unaaceptable. he served his sentence. the favor from the mayor pretty much happens in every town.
what are your thoughts?

thoughts on the ftaa (cont)
so the gallup poll has bush popularity at 38% and now 58% of the american public do not find him trustworthy. that is almost three out of every five americans that do not trust their leader. i have been thinking about the ftaa meeting in argentina a lot. i like the fact that bush's presence there has met with protests, and that chavez is basically taking pot-shots at him. but, while this is highly amusing entertainment, it is sad at the same time.
poverty in latin america is a real problem, and i totally understand chavez's position (underneath his humor, there really is a point). free trade in the rest of world could absolutely be looked at as capitalist imperialism. done correctly however, free trade could be an awesome thing. but, like 58% of americans, i do not trust that this administration has the ability or the correct motive to do this right becuase of their clearcut, thinly veiled special interests and inept track record....and that truly makes me sad.
jimmy carter said this week that it will take 100 years to undo the damage this administration has done, both at home and worldwide.

seems like bush is making friends all over the world.

even if the ftaa was good for the americas, does anyone honestly believe this friggin dink would be able to pull it off?

who's up for more contradiction?
so bush is asking for $7.1B to prevent the bird flu from becoming a pandemic. wow. am i the only one who is scared and highly doubts that this man can adequatly prepare our country for this impending crisis?
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2005-11-01-bush-flu_x.htm?csp=N009
and let's examine his comments, shall we? so he is relying on science and asking congress and the american people to rely on scientific reports and to (figuratively) cut the gov't a huge check for flu pandemic protection?
so george is saying that science is the key here, but science can't be relied upon and is morally wrong when it comes to stem cells? this is man who will now rely on science when he made previous statements that god told him to invade iraq?
am i wrong to not trust him? after all this man would rather stay on vacation than do ANYTHING to keep the city of new orleans from drowning.
i am afraid trust is gone. what do you think?
