the mta attacks nyc

so the hot news on the east coast of the US is the mta strike in new york city. the deal is all buses and trains are shut down. public transporatation has halted and the city has come to a grinding halt. opie and anthony said it best when they said "the mta has succeeded in crippling nyc, they have done what al queada could not."

there are people walking to work over the bridges. the tunnels are closed to you if you have less than four passengers in your car from 5am to 11am.

the city offered raises of 3, 4 and 3.5 percent over the next three years, the union is turning that down and wants 6 percent a year. the union actually walked away from the table.

an interesting point to watch is the news coverage of the situation. they are covering it in that "funny way" with people saying oh this stinks but we gotta do what we gotta do. but today there were people on the news bitching and complaining. it is going to get ugly in nyc.

apologies and back to business

sorry i haven't been around lately. i am in the mood to wrote lists today, so here goes:

1- the past few weeks i have had my dad and stepmom in to visit from canada over the thanksgiving holiday

2- my gram is sick and had to be hospitalized. she is 80 and has kidney stones and has been hampered with emphysema. she doesn't "battle" it per se, because she takes oxygen and still smokes.

3 - work has been crazy. IBM is a client of ours and they are quite demanding of us, namely me.
