u.k. cops "oops" and post partum depression

what's up dude?, sorry it has been a while. it is tough for me to predict my work load here at the job, so i can't write with any regularity.

anyway, i see in the bbc that the man shot by british police officers had nothing to do with the london bombings. he was an electrician who may have had an expired visa, so when the cops were following him he got scared and ran. this brings about uncertainty in me. i don't know how to feel about this. sure, i feel terrible for the family of this guy, who was unjustly executed. but it begs the question, how much civil liberty have we given up? on the flip, in a scary world such as ours, don't walk around in a thick coat with a bagpack in the middle of july. but shouldn't we be allowed to wear whatever we want? maybe i too am buying into the paranoia, but part of me says when the cops yelled halt, this guy should have halted. what do you think?

on another interesting note, i was listening to howard stern today, as i do every morning, and he played a clip of carnie wilson saying how she is struggling with post partum depression. howard had little sympathy of course and proceeded to goof on her. then he said that psychologists probably invented post partum depression, much like they invented ADHD, to explain the unexplainable and perscribe drugs. it makes people feel good to know its not their fault for being a lousy parent.

while this is a bit harsh and rash, it does raise another interesting point. parenting is hard goddamn work, and most people don't know what they are getting into. but the question is if rich people didn't get this PPD, would it ever come to light? after all women have been having kids forever and dealing with it, either in a good way or a bad way, and no one had a name for their disease.

again, i ask for your opinion...
