darwin v jesus in a cage match

So in Pennsylvania they are debating the issue of teaching “intelligent design” in the Dover School district. It seems that parents are suing because they don’t want the theory taught in schools. My first instinct on this topic is to say I don’t think a theory with religious connotations has any place in the schools. But when I take a minute and rethink it, to come out so staunchly against exposing our kids to alternate theories seems wrong too. I am not a religious person at all (and would consider myself atheist) but I don’t think everyone should be atheist. People should be informed and exposed to everything to be able to make intelligent choices in their lives. What do you think?

Comments:
I thin kkids are smart enough to come to their own conclusions. While parents do their best to protect them from harm, they can get a little out of control sometimes. Teach them all of it and let them come to their own conclusion and you'll eb able to watch them grow before your eyes.

I always appreciate a conclusion that I come to on my own instead of one that is told to me and to be accepted because that is jsut the way i is.

good points here. kids are very impressionable, but to present the view of intelligent design is not a horrible thing. present it as a theory. i do like the idea of a religion class as an elective. so, we could present darwin's theory in science class and all the other creationist theories in religion class.
