can you go home again?

here is an article about some contraversy from my old neighborhood.

http://www.nj.com/search/index.ssf?/base/news-1/1132137292148260.xml?expresstimes?nnj&coll=2

it appears that a man was convicted of gang rape of a 17 year old girl and forcing a 16 year old girl to perform oral on him. he was 20 at the time. in addition to the sexual misconduct and rape charges, he was convicted and is now a registed sex offender.

so the problem is that he now got hired by the township by the public works department. at this job he will work at and near a school. it appears that his dad was employed by the township for 33 years and is a friend of the mayor.

i should also mention that the township has enacted legislation to limit where sex offenders can live. so for a town to take such a hard line on sex offenders, and then allow this to happen seems highly hypocritical.

in my opinion, the rape and history of violence towards woman is unaaceptable. he served his sentence. the favor from the mayor pretty much happens in every town.

what are your thoughts?

Comments:
I have two thoughts on this, Ron. First, corruption or the scent of it wafts across Western society. There seems little we can do about it, except wait for things to get worse.

Secondly, violence against women is abominable, but we live in a patriarchal society, and it is in the interests of powerful white men to use violence to control women. the situation is sickening, and we must all do our part to achieve zero tolerance for violence against women.
