thoughts on the ftaa (cont)

so the gallup poll has bush popularity at 38% and now 58% of the american public do not find him trustworthy. that is almost three out of every five americans that do not trust their leader. i have been thinking about the ftaa meeting in argentina a lot. i like the fact that bush's presence there has met with protests, and that chavez is basically taking pot-shots at him. but, while this is highly amusing entertainment, it is sad at the same time.

poverty in latin america is a real problem, and i totally understand chavez's position (underneath his humor, there really is a point). free trade in the rest of world could absolutely be looked at as capitalist imperialism. done correctly however, free trade could be an awesome thing. but, like 58% of americans, i do not trust that this administration has the ability or the correct motive to do this right becuase of their clearcut, thinly veiled special interests and inept track record....and that truly makes me sad.

jimmy carter said this week that it will take 100 years to undo the damage this administration has done, both at home and worldwide.

what do you think?

Comments:
I find myself in full agreement with Carter.

I think if the fta was udproperlyi col beawesome. The problem is tht in th wrong hands it wil simply serve to transfer all available roduction to the poor coutries and suck their reources dry. Cn the current administraiond that? I'm surpised they haven't already!
